'Rise' from the Ashes!

Having spent more than 9 months painstakingly fabricating this 6.5 metre tall sculpture from a skeleton of 12 & 16 mm bars clad in a myriad of thousands of fragments of flat bar, Internationally renowned sculptor Andy Scott turned to Joseph Ash for advice on how galvanizing could enhance his work whilst ensuring its safety during the molten metal process. Having spoken with Customer Service Manager - Tracie Lockley "who was very helpful indeed" the sculpture was duly galvanized with their usual skill and attention to detail by Joseph Ash Galvanizing in Telford. And the results......Stunning!

'Rise' was commissioned by Glasgow harbour as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of the city's riverside. She is intended to symbolise the resurgence of the area from post-industrial decay to a thriving new community. She spirals upwards displaying her wings, based on ships' propeller blades symbolising the maritime history of the area. The intention is to create a major landmark whilst adding to Glasgow's rich artistic heritage.

'Rise' is scheduled to be unveiled on 22nd May this year.
